Two kinds of nano-titanium dioxide (TiO2) sols were made in this experiment, and different poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)/ TiO2 hybrid membranes were prepared with different doses of them as the modifier. The tests, such as membrane flux, retention rate and contact angle, were carried out in order to verify the effects of various kinds and concentrations of nano-TiO2 sol on the PVDF/TiO2 hybrid membrane properties. Some membranes of good proprieties were then chosen, and the structure and micro-morphology of them were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM), respectively. The results showed that both sols can improve the properties of the membranes and the optimal concentration of the nano-TiO2 sol was 10%. The contact angle was significantly lowered (from 83° to 60°), and the water flux of the hybrid membrane (which could reach as high as 257.87 L/m2 h) was improved evidently with little change of the bovine serum albumin interception rate. Besides, results from XRD and SEM showed that PVDF/TiO2 hybrid membranes had more hydroxyls and a smoother surface. |
