Ethyl cellulose/C60 composite membranes were prepared in benzene, the membrane structure were studied by UV-visible spectrum, Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) and gas permeation tests were also implemented before and after UV irradiation. Results showed C60 morphology in the composite membranes by the independent cluster structure before UV irradiation and continuous gentle hill-like structure after UV irradiation, the d-spacing of the composite membrane did not change before and after UV irradiation. The change of C60 clusters morphology could influence the gas separation property of the composite membranes, when the C60 loading content raised to 16‰ before irradiation, the permeability coefficient of CO2 and H2 of composite membrane were 61.29 Barrer and 78.88 Barrer, 1.3 and 1.4 times of pure EC membrane, while ideal separation factor of H2/N2 , CO2/N2 were 9.979 and 12.84, 1.47 and 1.38 times of pure EC membrane; when irradiated by UV light source, EC/C60 composite membrane could maintain permeability of CO2 and H2 on the level of pure EC membrane, and the ideal separation factor of H2/N2 and CO2/N2 were 17.49 and 25.60, 2.30 and 2.43 times pure EC membranes at high C60 loading content. |
