Application research of charged microporous ceramic membrane in emergency water purification

Abstract：

Using magnesium oxide and yttrium oxide as positive charged agents, the charged microporous ceramic membrane was prepared by impregnation and sintering process, which could separate pollutant in water through sieving and electrostatic adsorption. The results showed that the charged microporous ceramic membrane had a good removal effect on particulate and microbe in natural water. The turbidity of purified water was less than 1.0 NTU. The removal rate of total number of colonies was greater than 99.9%, while E. coli was not detected in purified water. The removal rate of coliphages f2 by charged microporous ceramic membrane with different pore sizes can reach 100%, and the removal rate of bacterial endotoxin was larger than 99%. Therefore, charged microporous ceramic membrane had good mechanical strength and water purification effect, which could be used for emergency water purification.
