Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) hollow fiber microporous membrane was prepared using mixed diluent of glyceryl triacetate (GTA) and dibutyl sebacate (DBS) via thermally induced phase separation (TIPS). A systematic study was carried out to investigate effects ofthe components of casting membrane solution: GTA content in mixed diluent, PVDF content in the casting membrane solution, and spinning parameters: water bath temperature, air-gap distance, extruding temperatureon the structure and performance of PVDF hollow fiber membrane. It was found that the cross section of membrane changed from interconnected structure into the combination of spherulitic and interconnected structure as GTA mass content in the mixed diluent increased from 30% to 50%. The water flux of PVDF hollow fiber membrane increased as PVDF mass content in the casting membrane solution decreased, the air-gap distance increased, or the water bath temperature increased, however, the solution rejection and the tensile strength of PVDF hollow fiber membrane decreased. As the extruding temperature increased, the water flux of PVDF hollow fiber membrane increased firstly and then decreased, while thesolution rejection and the tensile strength of PVDF hollow fiber membrane decreased firstly and then increased. |
