Forward osmosis(FO)is a novelenvironmentally friendly membrane separation technique.In recent years, FO has drawn a lot of attentions because it possesses many advantages, including low energy consumption, low fouling propensity and high water recovery. In this paper, the principles of FO are introduced. Moreover, the key techniques (draw solutions and membranes) and application progresses are reviewed. At last, the research tendencies of FO are discussed. |
