|
On the basis of previous study, bipolar membraneelectrodialysis,abbreviatedtoBMED, was used in desalination of PDO fermentation broth. Salt rejection was higher than 99% with energy consumption 21.9kW.h/L broth. The recovery ratio of PDO was 96.1%. Besides these, desalination was conducted in a 7-batches continuous processing, and the results indicated that the performance of BMED was little influenced by continuous processing. PDO recovery ratio was between 92.7% and 96.7%. Among the 7 batches, energy consumption increased from 21.7kW.h to 31.6kW.h. Furthermore, the base produced from BMED was reused for adjusting pH of fermentation in 3L and 5L tank, and the acid was crystallized as main product of succinic acid |
