Gas separation membranes typically have multi-layer structures with a gutter layer. The gutter layer shall have high gas permeability and good coating property. Polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS) is an ideal gutter layer material. Its low surface energy is good for coating on to other materials. However, other materials are difficult to be coated on PDMS. In this study, we used commercially available PDMS and CRA additives. We studied the functionality of CRA on the increments of adhesive property of PDMS. When the composition of PDMS to CRA was 1:3 (w:w), a three layer hollow fiber composite membrane Pebax/PDMS/PAN was successfully prepared. The CO2 permeance and CO2/N2 selectivity of the composite membrane were 115.6 GPU, and 29.3, respectively. This result demonstrated that the Pebax layer was successfully coated onto the PDMS surface. |
