Abstract: |
|
In order to enhance the separation performance for n-hexane/water emulsions, tannic acid (TA) was employed to optimize the surface hydrophilicity and pore architecture of carbon membranes. The prepared carbon membranes were comprehensively characterized by scanning electron microscope, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, bubble-point porometry, and water contact-angle measurements. The effects of TA concentration and modification duration on the microstructural evolution and separation performance of the membranes were systematically investigated. The results demonstrated that TA modification significantly improved the membrane hydrophilicity, optimized the pore structure and the separation efficiency. The n-hexane rejection and water permeation flux could respectively reach to 45.73% and 8 746.34 kg/(m2·h·MPa) for the carbon membranes in the treatment of n-hexane/water emulsion, which are modified by TA concentration of 1.0 mg/mL and modification time of 12 h. |
